Terms of Service

These are the terms for using Vaara, a meal-planning app. By using Vaara, you're agreeing to them. They're written to describe what actually happens when you use the app, not generic boilerplate. See our Privacy Policy for how your data is handled.

What Vaara is

Vaara helps you plan meals for your household: generating weekly plans, tracking dietary needs, estimating nutrition, and helping you coordinate with a cook. It's a planning tool, not a substitute for professional advice.

Not medical or dietary advice

The protein, carb, and fibre figures Vaara shows are estimates based on dish type, not lab-tested nutrition data. The health-condition filters (for cholesterol, diabetes, BP, thyroid, IBS, and weight loss) are a best-effort keyword-based filter, not a substitute for medical guidance. If you or someone in your household is managing a real medical condition, please rely on a doctor or dietitian for actual dietary limits, not on Vaara's estimates alone.

Accounts and guest use

• You can use Vaara as a signed-in user (via email or Google) or as a guest. Guest data is stored only on your device and can be lost if you clear your browser or switch devices, so we recommend signing in if you want your plan saved reliably.
• You're responsible for keeping your account accessible (e.g. remembering the email you signed up with). We can help recover an account tied to a known email, but we can't recover a guest session with no email attached.
• You must be an adult responsible for a household's meals to use Vaara. It isn't directed at children.

Subscriptions and billing

• Vaara offers a free trial, after which continued use of certain features requires a paid plan (currently ₹49/week, ₹99/month, or ₹299/quarter in India; $5/month or $12/quarter outside India; see the app for current pricing, which may change).
• Payment is processed by Razorpay (or PayPal outside India). We don't see or store your card or bank details.
• Subscriptions are currently activated via a payment link rather than automatic recurring billing, so you won't be charged automatically without taking an action to pay again.
• If you believe you were charged in error, contact us (below) and we'll sort it out directly. We don't have a rigid no-refunds policy; we look at each case.

The Vaara Concierge pilot

If you sign up for the Concierge pilot, you're agreeing to a hand-run, human-assisted service, not an automated one: a real person (Pawan) personally handles plan review, cook coordination, and grocery guidance for pilot households. Pilot pricing and scope are agreed directly with you at signup and may change as the pilot evolves.

AI-generated content

Meal suggestions, recipe steps, translated messages for your cook, and video recommendations are generated with the help of AI (Anthropic's Claude, Sarvam AI for translation, and YouTube's data for video suggestions). We try to keep this accurate and useful, but AI-generated content can be wrong, so always use your own judgment, especially for anything involving a real dietary restriction, a video's actual content, or a translation's accuracy.

Household linking and shared content

• If you link your account with a household member's, only your dietary preference and name become visible to them, and only once both people agree to the link.
• If you post to the community recipe exchange or share content with your cook, you're responsible for what you post and share. Don't post anything that isn't yours to share, or that's abusive or unlawful.

Acceptable use

Please don't try to abuse Vaara's underlying services, for example, by scripting excessive requests to the AI-facing features, attempting to extract other users' data, or using the app for anything unlawful. We may suspend access for accounts that do this.

No guarantees

Vaara is provided as-is. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we don't guarantee it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or perfectly suited to your specific dietary or medical needs. To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the app.

Changes to the app and these terms

Vaara is actively evolving: features, pricing, and these terms can change. If we make a meaningful change to these terms, we'll update the date at the top of this page.

Ending your use

You can stop using Vaara and request deletion of your account and data at any time (see contact below). We may suspend or end access for accounts that violate these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India.
